  • DDO core functionality

    DDO functions as follows:

    1. Patients self-register using an agency code or have a preexisting account.

      1. There are a few execeptions to this where the patients are registered on-site by an employee of the agency but they are all research project agencies.

    2. In the patient portal, users select “Devil’s Drop-off” and then type in the “Specimen Number” (10-digit barcode on the bottom of the micronics) and the “Test Kit Number” (an alphanumeric code on the printed label which is formulaically derived from the normal barcode to verify authenticity).

      1. Note that the letter which precedes the 5 numbers for the test kit number is a batch signifier and is irrelevant and PnC ignores it entirely.

      2. Note further that the Test Kit Number is secondarily to ensure that the patient does not typo the 10 digit barcode and thus preclude the possibility of their result being delivered, in the case that there seems to be an issue with the kit number validating, a sample can be manually accessioned by an administrator sans kit number.

    3. Once the sample is accessioned, the PnC side of DDO becomes the same as for any other sample.
