KE Secure Cloud Overview

The KE Secure Cloud (formerly ASRE, the Arizona Secure Research Environment (ASRE) is a FISMA/HIPAA-aligned, secure computing environment designed for provides a secure technology infrastructure for academic research on sensitive or regulated work. Documentation under this section is specific to the ASRE computing environment only and is not pertinent to using the Agave or Sol clusters.

At this time ASRE is accepting access requests to the new “Aloe” HPC. This cluster is in testing phase only, and as such functionality is not guaranteed.

The Aloe HPC is also HIPAA aligned, and therefore has additional user requirements. Users of the ASU Research Computing supercomputers (Sol/Agave) do not have ASRE access by default.  Access to Aloe requires sponsorship from a PI already authorized to use ASRE data. The environment includes both on-premise and cloud resources for storage, tenanted compute, and supercomputer (HPC) resources and is highly partitioned to ensure project integrity.

PI’s seeking new access should contact James Journey or Chris Kurtz for additional information.

Requesting Access to ASRE

Access to the ASRE computing environment must be requested by emailing asre-support@asu.edu. Prior to requesting access to ASRE, users must complete ASU HIPAA training before access will be granted. Please note that training must be renewed annually, otherwise accounts will be locked. New tenants or projects on the ASRE system will be required to provide department billing codes as ASRE services are fee-based. Please contact support at asre-support@asu.edu to further discuss service fees.
