Globus

Overview

This article is about using Globus specifically with the KE Secure Cloud environment. You can learn more about using Globus at Globus and Globus’s documentation.

The KE Secure Cloud Collection

The collection for the KE Secure Cloud is called ASRE Storage.

The collection’s UUID is af1ae8f8-7fb9-43a2-9d34-5eeb043f6bb6. This ID does not change, even if the name of the collection changes. If searching for ASRE Storage doesn’t work, try searching for the UUID.

This is a High Assurance collection, which has some added restrictions. It will prompt you to log in with your ASU credentials, no matter how many accounts are linked to your Globus identity (read more about linked accounts). It also cannot be bookmarked in the web app.

Each KE Secure Cloud project will get a folder in the Globus volume. The folder name will be the project name. In the Globus web app, you will be able to see all the folders on the Globus volume. Navigate to the correct folder to begin transferring.

For smaller files, they can be uploaded to the folder through the web app directly. For larger files, you will want to transfer from another collection. To turn a laptop/desktop into a collection, setup Globus Connect Personal.

Access the data in KE Secure Cloud

The Globus volume is temporary and only intended to transfer data into the environment. Migrate it to a different storage location to prevent deletion.

In the Virtual Machines, the Globus folder that corresponds to the project will be automatically mounted as a drive. On the Aloe Supercomputer, the Globus volume is mounted at /globus.
