Physical Access Control

The physical KE Secure Cloud hardware and networking is colocated in the Research Computing Datacenter location inside Iron Mountain AZP-1 located in Phoenix, Arizona.

Heterogenous Security Access Control

Access to the KESC hardware requires 3 levels of approval and access control:

  1. Issuance of an Iron Mountain badge (or valid temporary escorted visitor/vendor access)

  2. Approval of access to the Iron Mountain room (DC-11) via the IM Badge/escort

  3. ASU Access control to the RC Cage outer door (managed by KESC Staff on behalf of RC)

  4. ASU Access control to the KESC Cabinet doors (managed by KESC Staff)

Granting Access Levels

Access to the RC DC requires two access processes:

  1. Access to the Iron Mountain Data Center itself requires an IM Badge issued on behalf of ASU. [Link to RC procedure to request a badge.] This badge grants physical to the Iron Mountain facility and the specific data center room (DC-11) where the RC cage is located.

  2. Access to the RC Cage via ASU ISAAC Access Control (requiring an active ASU ID) and a request to the KESC Service Now queue for access to the RC Cage.

  3. Access to the KESC Cabinets via ASU ISAAC Access Control (requiring an active ASU ID) and a request to the KESC Service Now queue for access to the Cabinets.

Vendor Access

  1. Iron Mountain may request access to the RC Cage to perform maintenance of the space. Access is requested to the RC Staff via email and approved on an as-needed basis.

  2. Vendor access (such as Dell) may have special general IM access and may be granted access to the RC Cage as directed by RC, using temporary vendor cards issued by RC (and added to the ISAAC system by KESC Staff for a limited time.

  3. Neither Iron Mountain staff nor Vendors will have access to the KESC Cabinets.
