A key component of the KESC environment is ASRE Virtual Desktops are Windows Desktops created , which contains dedicated on-premise Virtual Machines (VMs). VMs in ASRE mainly run Windows in a secure environment that is suitable for restricted data. They These servers look and feel like a Windows computer , but are accessed remotely so that restricted data does not have to leave the secure environment. It also allows for secure collaboration between team members.

Team members in a project share the VM space and data structures to allow for collaboration, and researchers have multiple secure options to transfer data in and out.
