Along the top of the page is the navigation bar which will allow easy access to:

    Allows uploads/downloads and simple file editing capabilities

  • Aloe Desktop
    A virtual Linux desktop within your browser that is capable of running graphical apps that require a point-and-click interface

    - Jupyter

Requesting Resources

Upon selecting any of the interactive apps, you will have a chance to determine the amount of computational resources to accompany the application.

Important decisions here include the number of CPU cores you want available to your application, and the amount of system memory. You can also request GPUs, different versions of each app, and the duration of time you will need these resources.

Job Starts

When you click the Blue LAUNCH button at the bottom of the form, you will be brought to the “My Interactive Sessions” page (which is also on the navigation bar).

This page will show all your web portal jobs, and would look similar to this while the job is pending allocation:

After the job has located available resources, it will transform into a new box with another LAUNCH button.

Virtual Desktop

The page that loads in your browser is a virtual desktop capable of utilizing CPUs and GPUs. Requesting GPUs is not necessary for a simple virtual desktop, but if you do allocate one, it is advised only for workflows and pipelines that have GPU-acceleration support; this is the most common use case of the GPUs for computational acceleration.

The file explorer provides easy access to your $HOME directory. Here you can manage your existing files, upload new ones, or delete files and folders.
